Partitioning a segment

Question

If A(4,1) and B(-3,0), find the point that divides AB two-thirds of the way from A to B

x co-ordinate: (1/3)4 + (2/3)(-3) = -2/3

y co-ordinate (1/3)1 + (2/3)0 = 1/3

The proof of the formula depends on the so-called "Side-Splitter" Theorem.

If I can figure out how to get that proof into this editor I will do so later.
