Branding and direct marketing are not the same thing, but they are both elements in a meriting mix. Branding deals with the presentation of a good or service to the public or target audience such as the color design appearence and feel of the product. It also covers advertising activities and ambassadors that may represent the product. Direct marketing is a for if promotion where the seller goes directly to the target audience to present or pitch the product rather than use a medium such as tv ads. DM is especially popular with industrial or commercial products. It can be used by itself like the encyclopedia salesmen or as part of a campaign like medical supplies.
