What is the reason behind doctors giving some medicines after/before the meal?

1) certain medications are really tough on the inner lining of the esophagus and can cause irritation, eating before hand helps reduce this

2) some medications cause really bad nausea, and having a full stomach helps prevent this

3) food stimulates digestion, which some pills might need to be absorbed into the blood stream
