What is the difference between an Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) and an Accountant?

I'm looking for some advice on various small personal financial matters relating to pension, salary, taxation etc. I've been given a personal recommendation for an accountant, but looking at their website they don't explicitly offer IFA services. Just wondering if there is a formal and recognised difference, and what it is.

If you want help planning for future taxes or current year taxes then you want a tax accountant. If you're looking for help in saving for retirement and investing then you want a financial advisor. Although a financial advisor may have answers to you tax questions, always seek a CPA who specializes in taxes.
