Because this does factor "nice"ly, will need to use the Quadratic Formula.
x = [ -b + sqrt(b2-4ac) ] / (2a)
For us, a=1, b=3, c=8
x = [ -3 + sqrt[ 9-4(1)(8) ] ]/ (2(1)
x = [ -3 + sqrt(-23) ] / 2
Two solutions are:
x = -(3/2) - i(√23)/2
and
x = -(3/2) + i(√23)/2
