SAS broadly has an entire suite of products ranging from Statistical software, Programming language, Visualization tools, Data Science related features and others.
With respect to SAS from a programming perspective, I would say, it offers great flexibility and it can work on multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, Unix, Mainframe and others. SAS can connect to various databases that are SQL based such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc. as well as it has ability to connect and read FLAT files, CSV, EXCEL, Delimited data and others which makes it powerful along with its statistical ability to analyze data. It also has ability to issue host commands from within the program during live execution which provides a whole new level of flexibility adding power to leverage the O/S features.
