English idiom equivalent to the German Gretchenfrage "wie hast du's mit...?"?

Adelaida A.

This phrase is much line the English. Wie means "what" hast is "to have". met is "with". In essence this is a question which asks What do you have to do with.......... i.e. what do you have to do with this matter? with this argument? with this situation? What do you have to do with .........?

The closest translation to the Gretchen Frage’s actual meaning would be: “What is your stand on religion? How much is it part of your life? What do you think about it?”
