A lot is in the shape of a triangle. One side is 100 ft longer than the shortest side, while the third side is 500 ft longer than the shortest side. The perimeter of the lot is 1500 ft. Find the lengths of the sides of the lot.

Let shortest side be x

 

second side = x  + 100

 

third side = x  + 500

 

x + (x+100) + (x+500) = 1500

 

3x + 600 = 1500

 

x = 900/3 = 300

 

second side = 300 + 100 = 400

 

third side = 300 + 500 = 800
