Physics (and math) are fun, really
Just subtract the 2nd equation from the first equation this eliminates y. the solve for x, put that value in either equation and solve for y and you are done.

Greetings! Lets solve this shall we!?
First, we must decide on which variable we want to eliminate first! Lets choose to eliminate y and solve for x first!
Lets multiply the first equation by -1 such that,
(-1)(5x+4y=1)
-3x+4y=-7
-----------------------
-5x - 4y = -1
-3x + 4y = -7
----------------------
-8x = -8
Then divide -8 to get x = 1
Now we plug in x = 1 to the first equation (5x + 4y = 1) such that
5(1) + 4y = 1
5 + 4y = 1
-5 -5
------------------
4y = -4
Then divide 4 yo get y = -1
I hope this helps!
