Greetings! Lets solve this shall we ?!
We begin with
-5x+y=-1
Y-4x=-3 ---- y = 4x - 3
-------------------------------------
-5x + y = -1
y = 4x - 3 We substitute y of the second equation into y of the first equation.
--------------------------------------------------------
-5x + (4x - 3) = -1
-5x + 4x - 3 = -1
-x - 3 = -1
-x = 2
x = -2
Now, we plug -2 into y = 4x - 3 such that
y = 4(-2) - 3
y = -8 - 3
y = -11
I hope this helps!
