Okay, this is very basic math. If we are assuming that every seating section is the same size, then we divide the total number by the number of sections. 50000/250 is your answer.
The second and third ones are the same kind of question. Divide the big number by the small number.
In the second and third cases, you could picture it by drawing a number line. each number goes up by 10,000.
You don't even have to write out the thousands, you can just mark them 0,10,20,30,40 and so on.
Then, go to 0 and put a check (first set of tires).
Go to 40 and put a check (second set of tires).
Add 40 to 40 and get 80. Go to 80 and put a check (third set of tires).
Keep going until the number line reaches 160. Then go back and check the question... if the question is how many sets he "used" in a year, did he "use" the set that he got at 160? (I'd say "no") Did he "use" the set he got at 0? (I'd say "yes" - he used it all up!)
Count up the checks. Does that match the number you divided out? It should.
Next. get a different color pen and put a check at each 10. Once again, when you get to 160, decide from the wordign of the question whether the first and last oil changes are in or out of the year.
Any questions?
