I use a couple of different formats.
The simplest is 3/30/2019 or 3/30/19 for today, March 30, 2019
Once the date is entered, MS Excel may automatically reformat it according various settings. If you want it to show up a certain way, you can specify the desired format.
A. Select the cell or cells to format the date. Right click those cells and choose "format cells".
B. If the number tab is not already selected from "number, alignment, font, border, protection, etc. the *top* of the new box, switch to number tab.
C. In the list of kinds of data on the left hand side, choose Date.
D. From the options on the right of this box
E. Click Ok.
F. Voila. Note: The above process only changes how they appear, not the actual date.
** Note: The country settings for MS Excel or your computer will influence this. Some countries use
mm-dd-yyyy format but some countries use
dd-mm-yyyy format.
If the computer thinks January 5th is May 1st, then your dates may have to be retyped.
