Click the Review tab, then click Protect Workbook. In the box that comes up, make sure the checkbox by Structure is checked. The second checkbox option by Windows may be greyed out, because it is not available in all versions of Excel. Enter a password in the Password box. Click OK, retype the password, and click OK again. Once you have completed these steps, you should see the Protect Workbook icon highlighted in green on the review tab.
NOTE: If you forget the password, there is no way to recover it. Also, passwords in Excel for Mac have a 15 character maximum.
