How do I split a cell in Excel into two colors?

You can't split a single cell into two colors. You can make two cells look like they are the same with the text from one cell overlapping into the next an the backgrounds having different colors. Or you might be able to do something with Conditional Formatting using Data Bars or Color Scales.
