Select the approximate values of x that are solutions to f(x) = 0, where
f(x) = -6x2 + 3x + 3.

A. {1.00, –0.50}

B. {-6, 3}

C.{–0.50, –0.50}

D. {–2.00, 1.00}

 

I got an answer that wasn't a choice

-6x² + 3x + 3 = 0

 

Divide both sides by -3:

 

2x² - x - 1 = 0

 

Factors to:

 

(2x+1)(x-1) = 0

 

So x = -1/2 and 1, which is choice A.  The solutions are exact, BTW, not approximate.
