Greetings! Lets solve this shall we ?
So, we must find out what the cost is $x per movie and $y per video game. Then, we have the equations to model the system such that
7x + 9y = 78
5x + 3y = 36
--------------------
Multiply the second equation with -3 to get
7x + 9y = 78
-15x - 9y = -108
----------------------
-8x = -30.............Then divide -8 to both sides
x = $3.75 per movie
Now, we substitute the x-value into the first equation such that
7(3.75) + 9y = 78
26.25 + 9y = 78.................Subtract 26.25 from both sides such that
9y = 51.75.............Then divide 9 to both sides such that
y = $5.75 per video game
I hope this helped!
