What are these letters doing in my equations? Here comes algebra!
Paula, first get the area of the floor. If the dimensions are 60 by 70, and area = length x width, our area is
70 x 60 = 4200 square feet.
A 12-inch by 12-inch tile is 1 square foot, right? Because 12 inches is 1 foot, and 1 foot x 1 foot = 1 square foot.
So if each tile is a square foot, and your floor is 4200 square feet, you need 4200 tiles.
Half the tiles are blue and half white. Half of 4200 is .. .
