So, we must find two numbers x and y such that
y = x - 8 and x + y = 80...........We substitute the x - 8 into the second equation such that
x + (x - 8) = 80................Add like terms such that
2x - 8 = 80............Add 8 such that
2x = 88.............Divide 2 such that
x = 44
Then we plug 44 into the second equation such that
y = 44 - 8
y = 36
