The first step is to recognize this as a concentration / dilution problem. These types of problems will give you an initial concentration (either a percent or when you get to chemistry something called molarity) and an initial volume or mass; and in this case you're asked to find the final concentration.
Two keys to solving these problems:
1) Using the equation Initial Amount X Initial Concentration = Final Amount X Final Concentration
2) Making sure you have the same units (in this case we have ounces on both sides so we're good).
Initial Amount = 5 oz
Initial Concentration = 22%
Final Amount = 6 oz (after the mixture or dilution)
Final Concentration = ?
One equation, one unknown, do the algebra and you'll get 18.3% (which makes sense because it's less than 22% with which we started).
