There are two methods for finding roots to a polynomial function synthetic and long division. How do you decide which method to use?

Does it make a difference on which method you use?

Answer 1

No.  Synthetic division is just a shorthand you can use when dividing by a linear factor.  You can't use it when dividing by polynomials of higher degree, though.
