The discriminant of Ax2 + Bx + C is B2 - 4AC.
The equation Ax2 + Bx + C = 0 has 2 real roots when B2 - 4AC > 0.
So, px2 - 2x + 3 = 0 has 2 real roots when (-2)2 - 4(p)(3) = 0
-12p = -4
p = 1/3
