Jennifer, this is actually pretty easy once you draw it. Draw your two parallel lines, then draw a line that cuts through both. Remember to put arrows at the end of each line.
Now, two angles next to each other are linear, since they make 180 degrees. Two angles directly diagonal to each other are vertical and have the same measurement.
If you look at your two parallel lines, two angles to the outside of the parallel lines that are on OPPOSITE sides of the transversal are alternate exterior angles.
Two angles that are inside the parallel lines and on opposite sides of the transversal are alternate interior angles.

Angles 1 and 2, 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 5 and 7, 7 and 8 and 6 and 8 are linear.
Angles 3 and 6 and angles 4 and 5 are alternate interior angles.
Angles 1 and 8 and angles 2 and 7 are alternate exterior angles.
Angles 2 and 6, 4 and 8, 1 and 5, and 3 and 7 are corresponding angles.
Angles 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 5 and 8, and 6 and 7 are vertical.
I know this is more than what you asked for, but I hope it makes sense.
