PLEASE HELP! k(x)+2x+ 4. find the value(s) of x that make(s) k(x)=-14

i am completely lost on what steps to take for this. I have a ti-84 calculator for equations, etc if needed. thanks in advance

k(x)+2x+ 4
 
Do you mean k(x)=2x+ 4???
If so, and k(x) = -14, then
-14 = 2x + 4
-18 = 2x
x = -9
 
Or...k(x)+2x+ 4
-14 + 2x + 4  = 2x - 10
