I am having issues with 2 quadratic equations where you have to complete the square; 1) x^2+1=3x and 2) x^2=9-7x

1.  x² - 3x = -1     [(1/2)(-3)]² = 9/4

 

    Add 9/4 to both sides:  x² - 3x + 9/4 = -1 + 9/4

 

                                      (x - 3/2)² = 5/4

 

                                       x - 3/2 = ±√5/2

 

                                               x = (3 ± √5) / 2

 

2.  Proceed as in #1 above
