Hi Caz, did you see my answer to the other questions?
Same process here. Get rid of the fractions, then proceed.
MULT everything in the top equation by 5
MULT everything in the bottom equation by 4
x + 2y = -10
x - 6y =30
To eliminate x, multiply everything in the top equation by -1 so the x's will go away.
-x - 2y = 10
x - 6y = 30
Now add vertically and the x's go away (are ELIMINATED).
-8y = 40
y = -5
Plug that back in to one of the previous equations
x + 2(-5) = -10
x-10 = - 10
Add 10 to both sides and get
x = 0
Answer: (0,-5)
