A sum of $1010 is to be divided between two people in the ratio of 2 to 3. How much does each person receive?

The ratio 2:3 for two people

Let x to be the multiplier to get the real ratio of money, then 2x  : 3x

then you add up two ratio to get the sum of the money, that is

2x + 3x = 1,010

5x= 1,010

x=202

 

Therefore, 2x= 404, and 3x= 606

Ans) one person receives $404, the other $606
