Lets say that a bag of potato chips is (x) and a bag of corn chips is (y).
Now we set up the equations:
2.50x + 3y = 30
x + y = 10
The first equation shows that every bag of potato chips is $2.50 and every bag of corn chips is $3 and together can be no more than $30.
The second equation shows that both x and y bags together has to add up to 10.
Then use substitution or eliminating to find x or y and then plug one of those variables in to find the other variable.
