Hello Alexa
As J.R.S mentioned, it is rather difficult to draw the skeletal "line" structures of your 2 compounds here as there is no Chem draw feature available.
A) CH3CH2C(CH2)2CH3
For Structure A, there is an error in the way it is written specifically in the 3rd carbon from the LEFT side. Carbons must always have 4 bonds, but this C-3 carbon as only 2 bonds as illustrated by the condensed structural formula below:
CH3−CH2−C−CH2−CH2−CH3
↑
**error**
Can you kindly re-check your original question and then post the correct structure here? Thank you!
Structure B
B) C(CH3)3(CH2)3CH3
The condensed structural formula is (hopefully the formatting does not get distorted):
CH3
l
H3C−C−CH2−CH2−CH2−CH3
l
CH3
I will attempt to draw the line skeletal structure below, but again, the structure will look weird due to the lack of a drawing feature in this forum. FYI - The name of this compound is 2,2-dimethylhexane.
