I, have done B.Tech in Civil Engineering in 2018.
Suppose width of the rectangle = xcm
As per question, length = (x+3)cm
Area of RECTANGLE = length * width
= x*(x+3) sq cm.
Area of RECTANGLE =70 sq cm.
So, the equation will be,
x*(x+3)=70
> x^2 + 3x - 70 =0
> x^2 +10x -7x -70=0
> (x + 10)*(x - 7) =0
> x =(-10) or x =7
Lengths , width cannot be negative.
So, the width of the rectangle is 7cm.
the length of the rectangle is 10cm.
By cross checking area of the rectangle is 7*10=70 sq cm.
Here is your ans. Hope this help. Feel free to ask any problem if you face.
