whats the value of n

Three tanks A,B and C are used to store oil. Tank A contains "n" litres of oil. Tank B contains (n+150) litres of oil. Tank C is empty. Oil is pumped from Tank A and from Tank B into Tank C so that all three Tanks contain the same amount of oil. 500 litres of oil are pumped from Tank A into Tank C. Workout the value of "n"

Sorry, i still do not understand...i know that it was 500+ ((n-350)÷2) and that 500 was not to be divided by 2....but i do not understand hiw you made "n" the subject and got 1650... in the equation, there is n on both sides and i dont know what procedures to take? Can you please guide me in the steps you took to get 1650... thanks i really appreciate it!

You have written:
500+n-350 =n-500          solve for n    n=1650=amount in A
            2

how did you simplify this to get 1650 as the value of n?

Abdullah, it is the number 500 plus the term n-350 divided by 2.  The 500 is not divided by 2!

So,
500+n-350 =n-500 solve for n n=1650=amount in A
          2

I'm hoping my underline will show and that you can see how I solved.
