This one is easiest to understand by graphing I think. Slope intercept form is y=mx+b. To find this equation, we need two pieces of information... "m" (the slope) and "b" (the y-intercept). Now, we know that parallel lines have the same slope. Therefore, a line parallel to y=5x-7 must also have a slope of 5. That gives us our "m". If we plot the point (0,4), we realize that this point is ON the y-axis meaning that this point IS the y-intercept or "b". With a coordinate of (0,4), the y-intercept of the new line must be 4, the y-component of this point. Plugging a value of 4 in for "b" in the slope-intercept formula, this gives us an equation of y=5x+4.
