2 cars travel 200 Miles. Car A travels at a rate of 20 mph for 8 hours. Car B takes 11 1/2 hours and makes two 15 min pit stops. What is the AS of car B

this one is hard for me because I don’t know how to calculate pit stops into the total time of car B because it gets confusing with the fraction in their.  if you can show me step by step that would be great.

I don't like the wording of this one so you might want to compare my answer to someone else's

 

 you need to divide the distance (200 miles) by the time Car B was

moving

 

Car B's trip took 11.5 hours but wasn't driving .5 hours (2 (15) minute stops)

 

Car B's time = 11 hours

 

Average speed = 200/11 =18.18 miles per hour
