It is a complex fraction. One way we can simplify this fraction is to multiply the numerator and the denominator of the complex fraction by the LCD of both.

 

The LCD of the numerator and the denominator is (xy²).

 

The soluiton:

 

[1/x + 2y](xy²)

------------------

[3/x -4/y²](xy²)

 

   y² + 2y³

=-----------

   3y² -4x

I am not sure what you want done here.

You can clear fractions in the numerator and denominator and then invert and multiply to get

[y²(1+2xy)]/(3y² -4x) but I am not sure that helps very much.  This assume neither x nor y is 0.
