Laura is a software salesman. Her base salary is $1500, and she makes an additional  $40 for every copy of Math is Fun. Her  earnings for the month  is represented by P .  She earns $2300  for the month. How many Maths is Fun did she sell?

 

Solution:                                         Explanation

 P = Base salary + Sales                   Base = $1500   and   Sales = 40(N)    where N is the number sold

 

  P = 1500 + 40(N)

 

 2300 =  1500 + 40N

-1500    -1500

 

   800 =   40N

   

   800/40 = 40N/40

    

     20      =  N
