Chelsea currently walks to school which is 1.1 miles. She walks at 2 miles per hour. She figures if she were riding a bike, she could go about 5 miles per hourt

How many miles could she save in getting to class if she were riding a bike?

Dirst off, I don't think it's miles saved, but time. Anyways, here's what we know:

D = rt (Distance equals rate * time. Isolate time, and we get...)

D/r = t

 

Plug in the walking variables:

1.1 ^mi / 2 ^mi/_hr = 0.55 hours

Now for the bike riding:

1.1 mi / 5 ^mi/_hr = 0.22 hours

I'm sure you can subtract the two numbers from here.
