So the best way to solve this problem is to make all denominator the same, so that you can more easily see the pattern.
Step one: Find a common denominator = 28
Step two: convert all fractions to have a denominator of 28.
1/2 * 14/14= 14/28
5/7 * 4/4= 20/28
Step three: Observe for pattern.
11/28, 14/28, 17/28. 20/28. When put in this form we can easily see that the pattern is adding 3/28.
So the next number in the pattern would be 23/28
