You could think of it as y=-3x+25 ... does that give more meaning to you, expressing it in the typical x/y linear equation fashion???

The graph of the sequence is a straight line with slope m = -3 and y-intercept = 25. Basically, as Alex S pointed out above, it is the equation:
y = -3x + 25
You just replace y with an and x with n
an = -3n + 25
where n is along the x-axis and an is along the y-axis.
