A chef is going to use a mixture of two brands of Italian dressing. The first bran contain 7% vinegar and the second brain contains 12% vinegar. The chef wants to make 400 mL of addressing that is 8% vinegar. How much of each brand should She use?

0.07a + 0.12b = 0.08(400)

 

a = 400 - b

 

0.07(400 - b) + 0.12b = 0.08(400)

28 - 0.07b + 0.12b = 32

0.05b = 4

b = 80

 

a = 400 - 80 = 320
