Please answer this question ASAP

Ian plays 7 games of cricket.
His mean score per game for these 7 games is 42 runs.

Ian is going to play one more game of cricket .
He wants his mean score per game for the 8 games to be exactly 50 runs.

How many runs must he score in his 8th game?

So basically the answer is going to be 50-42 = 8 runs?

No. Remember the formula for “mean”.
Mean = (total runs) / (#of games)
 
solve that formula for “total runs”.
 
(total runs) = mean * (#of games)
The problem says his mean runs per game were 42 for 7 games. Since that’s his mean, what was the total for 7 games? 42 * 7= 294
 
Now , given that he wants a mean of 50, for 8 games, what does his total run count have to be?
 
then subtract 294 from the result. (Hint, it’s more than a century)

So I did 400-294 =106
