Stumped on this word problem

Question

I need to find the estimated lengh of copper pipe with a radius of 2.5 cm and a mass of 1760g.  I know the density of copper is 8.96 g/cm3.  I'm stuck there.

Density = Mass / Volume

 

Volume * Density = Mass

 

 

Volume = Mass / Density

 

            = 1760 g /  8.96 grams per cubic centimeter

 

           = 196 and 3/7 cubic centimeters

 

Pipe is the shape of a cylinder with volume formula:

   V = 22/7 * radius^2 * height  <---- height in this problem is the length being estimated

 

  196 and 3/7 = 22/7 * 2.5^2 * height

 

 1375/7 = 22/7 * 6.25 * height

 

 1375 = 22 * 6.25 * Height

 

 1375 = 137.5 * height

 

height = 1375 / 137.5 = 10
