Mahesh woke up in the morning. Through the window he saw that the sky was misty. He looked at a wallclock which had a calender which showed 27 may 2050. He was suprised.......

Mahesh woke up in the morning. Through the window he saw that the sky was misty. He looked at a wallclock which had a calender which showed 27 may 2050. He was suprised that the calender showed 2050. He blinked his eyes, assuming he must have hallucinated. However, the year remained unchanged.
Mahesh was extremely confused. He got up from his bed and walked towards the clock. He placed his hand in front of him, trying to reach the clock. Quite suprisingly, he was unable to touch the clock.
He could not understand what was going on. Suddenly, the clock ticked faster and louder and he was pulled in a whirlwind. He could not see or hear anything besides a loud swish of wind.
In a moment, everything seemed to calm down. Mahesh blinked open his eyes only to find himself on a road which was floating in mid air.

What's going on? He thought. Am I in heaven?

Mahesh walked for a few steps before he realised that there were houses on either side of the road. There were other people too on the road, talking amongst themselves.

Suddenly the sky darkened. Mahesh looked up and found that there was a storm that was about to break loose.

A women about forty, noticed Mahesh's presence from her house.

"Get under shelter, child! Run back to your home! What are you waiting for?! Run!" She screamed.

Mahesh found himself stuck, unable to move. Suddenly a lightning struck nearby. The streets had cleared of people besides him.

The old lady saw him again. "Don't stand out there! What's wrong with you? Come in. Come in my house and wait till the sky clears!"

Mahesh moved to the side and into her house. The women closed the door and came in.

"Why didn't you go back home?" She asked.

Mahesh looked down. He didn't know what was going on. He was startled as well as confused. For a boy of fourteen years this was too much for him.

"It's alright. You can go back after the sky clears. Meanwhile, can I have your name?" Th woman asks.

"Mahesh, ma'am." He says.

"Oh don't call me ma'am. My name is Laila." She says.

Laila walks around and shuffles the things in the house. Soon after, the sky cleared and it was time for Mahesh to leave.

While preparing his things, Mahesh looked at the calendar in front of him. He suddenly remembered the clock in his room, which he found in the garage, and had decided to place it in the mantle piece, and asked Laila.

"Laila, what is today's date?" He asked.

"Why? It is 27th May 2050." Laila answered casually.

Her voice rung in his ears. Suddenly he grew conscious of the clock's ticking. It started ticking faster and louder. Once again, he was pulled in a whirlwind.

Moments later, he found himself in a room with white walls. He opened his eyes and found his parents and sister in the room, crying.

"Oh Mahesh, I'm so happy you're back!" His little sister spoke. "I thought you were dead in the car crash!"

Mahesh only then realised that all he saw was just a dream and became happy that everything was normal again.
