What do you need to make to get an average of 90?

Joe took 3 quizzes and his grades were 94, 78, and 80. If a test counts as the grade of 2 quizzes, what is the lowest grade that Joe needs to make on the test to have an average of 90?

Would you add 84 twice then divide?

Shelby, no you wouldn't do that. Remember, the 84 is not a score he actually got, it's the AVERAGE of the scores he got. The one you figure in twice would be the score he will need on the final exam, since that score will count double, as if it's 2 quizzes. So since he needs a total of 450 points, see how many he already has from the 3 quizzes, and then you'll know how many he would need to get on 2 more quizzes, or one final. (It might help to think of the final as being worth 200 points since it's kind of like a "double quiz.")

Good luck!
