For the point P (-9,-17) and Q (-2,-14) ​, find the distance​ d(P,Q) and the coordinates of the midpoint M of the segment PQ.

Use the distance formula.
 
d12 = √[(x1 - x2)2 + (y1 - y2)2]
 
x1 = -9
y1 = -17
x2 = -2
y2 = -14
 
Midpoint:
 
xm = (x1 + x2)/2
 
ym = (y1 + y2)/2
 
Substitute, evaluate, simplify, and you will have your answers.  Just do the arithmetic.
