The easiest way to figure this out is to convert the temperatures so they are in the same units.
The formula for conversion between Celsius and Fahrenheit is: T(°F) = (T(°C) *1.8) + 32
So, if we convert 40°C to Fahrenheit, we get: T(°F) = (40*1.8) + 32 = 72+32 = 104°F
So, 40°C = 104°F *** 40°F is colder than 40°C ***
We can look at it the other way too, from Farenheit to Celsius: T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32)/1.8
So, if we convert 40°F to Celsius, we get: T(°C) = (40 -32)/1.8 = 8/1.8 = 4.44°C
So, 40°F = 4.44°C *** 40°F is colder than 40°C***
