You mean the GCF, the greatest common factor,

the largest number that divides both numbers,

which for this problem is 3.

 

The LCM, is the Least Common Multiple, or the

SMALLEST number that is a multiple of both, or

the smallest number that divides BY both;

IN that case, it is 60. TO find the least common

denominator, first list multiples of the larger.

 

15x1 = 15

15 x 2 = 30

15 x 3 = 45

15 x 4 = 60

15 x 5  = 75

15 x 6 = 90

etc etc

etc

 

The smallest that divides by 12 is 60.
