Need help solving problem

Suppose a child drops a juice cup while in their high chair from a height of 2 feet. Use the position equation, s = -16t^2 + v_0 t + s_0, to determine how long it will take, in seconds, for the coffee cup to hit the ground. (Enter a number. Round your answer to two decimal places.)

Let's delete the word coffee, so we know that the cup containing the juice is what is falling.

The only terms that count are the squared term, associated with gravity, and the s(0) term which is 2. This is because initial velocity is zero (cup was not thrown down).

So you have to find the solution to s=0, i.e. 16t= 2.  YOU CAN DO THAT!
