so age of Erin =x/3 - 3

 

(x-3)+(x/3 -3) = 38

x-3+x/3  -3 =38

x+x/3 = 44

3x + x = 132

4x = 132

x= 33

 

Current age of Colin= x = 33
so current age of Erin =x/3 =33/3 =11
