Question

If I have 1637 apples and my father gets 2 and my sister gets 1 and they keep doing that until there’s no more apples left. How many apples will my dad have and how many will my sister have in the end?

Answer 1

father gets twice as many as sister

 

Let x be the number of apples the sister gets.

Father gets 2x.

 

2x + x = 1637

 

3x = 1637

 

x = 1637/3 = 545

 

2(545) = 1090 given to father

                545 given to sister

TOTAL is  1635

 

There will be 2 left over
