Algebra age word problem .

Question

James is 4 years less than 7 times the age of his daughter, who is 4 more than half of her brother's age. The sum of their ages is 38.
How old is James ?

Daughter 1/2x +4

James 7(1/2x+4)-4=7/2x+24

 

Total is 38= 5x+28

              10= 5x

                X=2

Brother is 2

Daughter is 5

James is 31
