Question

Juan is traveling to visit universities. He notices mile markers along the road. He records the mile markers every 10 minutes. His father is driving at a constant speed. (First time interval= 520 mile marker and goes down by 11 for each one.) Construct an explicit rule in function notation. Then find f(10) and state what it represents.

f(t)=520 mi  -   t X 11.   f(10)= 520 mi - 10 x 11 =  (520 - 110) mi = 410 mi.  The other mile markers can be found in the same way.
